Green Software Metrics: An Enterprise Survey

This survey is part of a doctoral research project by 📧 Manuel Steinberg at 🔗 Munich University of Applied Sciences.

This survey investigates how organizations approach the measurement of energy consumption, resource usage, and carbon emissions in software systems. It is intended for professionals involved in decision-making, development, operation, or analysis of enterprise software.

The questionnaire examines motivations, organizational capabilities, and current measurement practices related to Green Software Metrics. Your responses will help identify organizational challenges, capability gaps, and differences across technical, managerial, and non-technical roles. Unless stated otherwise, questions refer to the software systems you primarily work with or are most familiar with.

The questionnaire comprises 26 questions in total; however, depending on your responses, not all questions may be shown.

The survey takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

The results of this survey will be published in a scientific publication.

This survey is anonymous.

The record of your survey responses does not contain any identifying information about you, unless a specific survey question explicitly asked for it.

If you used an identifying token to access this survey, please rest assured that this token will not be stored together with your responses. It is managed in a separate database and will only be updated to indicate whether you did (or did not) complete this survey. There is no way of matching identification tokens with survey responses.
